CalcDIY ("we," "us," or "our") is a project of Perihelion Labs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit calcdiy.com (the "Site") and use our free home project calculators.
We believe in transparency. This policy is written in plain language so you can understand exactly what happens with your data when you use our site.
What Data We Collect
Analytics Data (via Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. GA4 collects:
- Usage data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, how you arrived at our site (referral source), and general browsing behavior
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and device category (mobile, desktop, tablet)
- IP address: Google Analytics collects your IP address to determine your approximate geographic location (country/region level). GA4 does not store full IP addresses.
- Calculator interaction events: When you use a calculator, we track the event (e.g., "calculation performed" and the calculator type) to understand which tools are most useful. We do not store the specific measurements or values you enter.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not require you to create an account or sign in
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information through normal site use
- We do not store the specific numbers you enter into our calculators (all calculations happen in your browser)
- We do not sell any data to third parties
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our site uses cookies set by Google Analytics. These include:
- _ga: Used to distinguish unique visitors. Expires after 2 years.
- _ga_[ID]: Used to maintain session state. Expires after 2 years.
These are first-party cookies set on the calcdiy.com domain. They contain randomly generated identifiers and do not contain any personal information.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may also set technical cookies necessary for site delivery, security, and performance (such as bot detection). These are functional cookies and do not track you for advertising purposes.
How We Use Your Data
We use the analytics data we collect to:
- Understand which calculators are most popular and useful
- Identify technical issues (e.g., pages that load slowly or have errors)
- Improve the accuracy and usability of our tools
- Make decisions about which new calculators to build
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond improving this site.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC): Web analytics service. Google processes data according to their Privacy Policy. GA4 data is retained for 14 months by default.
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.): Our site hosting and CDN provider. Cloudflare processes requests to deliver our site securely and efficiently. See their Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics reports may be retained indefinitely to track long-term site trends.

- Right to access: You can request information about the data we process about you
- Right to erasure: You can request deletion of your data
- Right to restriction: You can request that we limit how we process your data

Children's Privacy
